Still not cloth-convinced? Here are our top 5 reasons to GO CLOTH!

Ok, so purchasing an initial full-time stash of cloth diapers may seem super-pricey - at first glance. However, did you know that an average baby will use between $2000-$3000 worth of DISPOSABLE diapers before potty training? Sounds crazy, rigSave Money With Cloth Diapersht!?! A full time stash of REUSABLE CLOTH diapers will usually cost somewhere between $300 - $800 (depending on what you buy) - which saves you between $1700 to $2200 overall. This savings becomes even more when you factor in your future unborn babies :). Because cloth diapers don't expire, you can save them and use them for your 2nd, 3rd, 4th...whatever babies in the future. This means you save an additional $$1700 to $2200 per baby! For a family with 3 children, you can save as much as $6600 - enough for a family vacation!

You may be thinking - Well what about the cost of water and electricity used to wash the diapers? Well, normally you will only be doing an extra 2-3 loads of laundry per week, which amounts to minimal increases in water and hydro bills. Trust us, we've been using cloth for a while now and don't see a significant difference in our bills. And finally - MANY parents are willing to purchase cloth diapers second hand. Which means that once you're finished with your diapers you can post them on kijiji or craigslist and get at least half of your money back - an additional $150-$400 in savings!

If you can't afford to purchase a full-time stash of reusable cloth diapers, there are several options to consider. First, you can register for diapers for your baby shower. If just 12 guests purchase 2 diapers each, you will have enough diapers to get you going! Not having a shower? How about purchasing just half your stash for a month or so? If you buy 1 days' worth of diapers (about 10 diapers for a newborn), and don't mind doing laundry a bit more often for a while, you can save up and buy additional diapers later. If you think about it, you will probably spend over $100 on DISPOSABLE diapers during your baby's first month anyway - why not just spend it on cloth diapers that will last you? Finally, if the above options don't work for you, you can consider renting your diapers (some stores offer this), or purchasing them second hand (if you don't mind). Either way, there IS a way for all families to get their hands on a working set of cloth diapers.

Did you know that DISPOSABLE diapers contain toxins that have been proven to cause allergies, asthma, and even cancer? Do you really want your baby exposed to these chemicals unneccessarily? Here are just some of the chemicals present in DISPOSABLE diapers:

Dioxin - This chemical (in its various forms) has been shown to cause cancer, birth defects, liver damage, skin diseases, and genetic damage. It is a by-product of the paper-bleaching process used in manufacturing disposable diapers.  Dioxin is listed by the EPA as the most toxic of cancer related chemicals.

Tributyl-tin (TBT) - TBT is a toxic pollutant known to cause hormonal problems in humans and animals.

Sodium polyacrylate - These are the gel-like, super absorbant crystals found in DISPOSABLE diapers. Sodium polyacrylate is the same substance that was removed from tampons because of its link to toxic shock syndrome. Not only is this toxic chemical in contact with your baby's skin 24/7 for 2-3 years, but when a diaper is over-saturated with urine these crystals may actually leak and spill out of the diaper, enabling your baby to handle them and (most likely) eat them as a snack.

Studies have also been done to show that the chemical emissions from disposable diapers can cause respiratory problems in children. Cloth diapers, on the other hand, are free of the many chemicals contained in disposable diapers.

Not only are CLOTH DIAPERS free of toxic chemicals, they are so much softer and more comfortable against your baby's skin. You tell me - would you want to wear underwear made of paper? By putting your baby in DISPOSABLES, this is what you are making him or her wear - paper. CLOTH DIAPERS are made of the softest, most comfortable fabrics that always feel comfortable and cozy against your baby's skin.

It's not a secret that our planet is becoming a waste dump for tons of junk created (and then disposed of) by humans. Is it fair to subject the Earth's plants, animals and even humans to these disgusting living conditions? It all begins in the manufacturing process...thousands of tons of plastic, and hundreds of tons of trees are required EACH year in the production of DISPOSABLE diapers. Then, after just a few hours of use, each DISPOSABLE diaper is discarded without thought, and left to sit amongst all of its neighbours, taking HUNDREDS of years to degrade.  In the US alone, 18 BILLION diapers are disposed of each year - sitting and rotting in dumpsites nationwide. All of this makes you stop and think - is a DISPOSABLE diaper really DISPOSABLE, if it resides on Earth for centuries possibly leaking toxic excrement into our streams and lakes?

With today's modern cloth diaper designs, gone are the days of endless rinsing and pinning of non-absorbent fabrics. Today, most cloth diapers are actually designed with your convenience in mind. Most modern CLOTH DIAPERS works exactly (or almost exactly) like DISPOSABLE diapers. For example, an AIO (All-in-One) diaper is shaped exaclty like a DISPOSABLE, and goes on your baby in just the same way. The only difference is that after you're done using it, you can use it again! The same goes for Pocket Diapers, One Size Diapers and Fitted Diapers.

Another great thing about CLOTH DIAPERS is that they usually don't need to be rinsed, and can be stored in a diaper pail just like DISPOSABLES. In fact, this is where CLOTH DIAPERS become even more convenient than DISPOSABLES...Imagine a diaper pail (or your garbage bin) full of DISPOSABLE diapers for 1 or even 2 weeks (depending on how often your garbage collection takes place) - just picture the smell, the bacteria, and the amount of garbage accumulated in your house or garage! Did you know that DISPOSABLE diapers are the perfect breeding ground for flies? And did you know that flies begin as maggots? How would you like to peek into your garbage can and see a family of 2-300 maggots just hanging out? I wouldn't! The great thing about CLOTH DIAPERS is that they do get washed every 2-3 days, which means that your diaper pail becomes 100% clean each time, and your garbage can is diaper (and smell) free!!

And here's the final reason why CLOTH DIAPERS are more convenient than DISPOSABLES: They never run out! Imagine yourself with a small baby - your extremely busy and super tired. Suddenly you realize that you are on your LAST disposable diaper - and it's midnight. Do you really want to have to run to the store right now? With CLOTH DIAPERS, you always have diapers on hand... no matter what.
